The prices quoted on our home page are a sample of fares between major US cities and major international destinations selected largely at random. “+t/f” means “plus taxes and fees.” Taxes for international destinations vary tremendously, from $200 to about $350. Taxes depend the most upon which airports are used and which nations are traveled. Prices change erratically, typically with weeks or even months between changes, for these “bargain fares,” and we update the samples on the home page with a similar frequency. We picked a month at random to search in our database, but lower fares may be available for the month you plan to travel.
Fares on our site are usually listed as either “special offers” or “promotions”
“Special Offers” are special negotiated rates we receive from different consolidators. Consolidators are wholesale companies which negotiate directly with the airline to get low prices that will defeat normal published fares 90% of the time. These are travel-agent-only companies who receive calls from travel agencies looking for cheap travel to either international destinations or “distressed” domestic routes.
If you see this designation, it means you are looking at an opaque fare. The airline is not permitting us to show you which airline is involved. However, you will certainly know the airline after you complete a reservation. Carriers that can be listed as “major” are American Airlines, United, Delta, Northwest/KLM, Continental, US Air, Spirit, Lufthansa, British Midland, and Air France. You can often tell which airline it is by looking at which hub your connecting flight routes through. Continental typically uses Newark (EWR) and Houston. US Air uses Philadelphia, Charlotte, and Pittsburgh. American uses Dallas. Northwest uses Detroit, Minneapolis, and Seattle. United uses Chicago, Denver, Washington-Dulles, and San Francisco. Delta uses Atlanta and Salt Lake City. There are many more.
These consolidator fares do have special conditions. Cancel/change conditions are provided in brief form when you view our final booking page. However, each contract is different. Travel insurance is always recommended. For some trips, you may only change the return flight. Any one of these tickets that is refundable typically takes 5-8 weeks for a refund. Some have restrictions as 30-day fares, 90-day fares, etc, where you cannot lengthen your trip beyond a certain point when you make a change. For ALL fares of any kind, you may never change your beginning or ending destination and you may not change the name of a passenger. Names must appear how they show on your passport. Non-US non-Canadian citizens of certain nationalities are required to have a transit visa if travel goes through a Canadian airport, even if you never step off the plane in Canada. Customers are always required to assume responsibility for their passports, visas, and foreign entry requirements.
